Martha Spain Ash, 91, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014. She lived in Petersburg and was a member of First United Methodist Church until moving to Hampton in 1972 where she became a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Martha retired as a clerk for VDOT and had served as a volunteer for the Shelton On The Bay.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband David Lloyd Ash, parents, R. Lee and Eula Spain; and is survived by her cousins, Joe Shelton and wife Mary Ann of Colonial Heights, and John Shelton and wife Pat of Petersburg.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 7, 2014 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. The interment will be held in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA.
