Obituary

Ervin V. Mabe, 93, died Thursday, December 12, 2013. A native of North Carolina, he had been a Hampton resident since 1947. A U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, he worked for Horne Brothers Shipyard from 1962-1972 and then worked for Liebherr American until retiring in 1984. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and a past member of Monitor Masonic Lodge #197.

Mr. Mabe was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Agnes Leach Mabe. He is survived by his daughter, Jeanette M. Stotler and husband Buddy; a sister, Edna Brown; grandchildren, Simone Hurley and husband Charles, Sonia Herndon, Harry E. Stotler III, Angela Stotler; five great-grandchildren, Brent Foretich, Hunter Foretich, Denny Herndon, Kristen Herndon, Angel Gaynon.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 16, 2013 at Parklawn Memorial Park by the Rev. Samuel E. Hyde. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30-3 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton.
