Elizabeth G. "Betty" McKinney, 95, died Monday, February 27, 2017. Born in Winston Salem, NC, she had been a Hampton resident from 1942 until moving to The Chesapeake eight years ago. Betty was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the St. Anne's Guild; a charter member of the Pembroke Garden Club, the Kecoughtan Literary Circle and the Thursday Sewing Group. She inherited a love of painting from her mother and spent many hours painting in watercolors.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Jane Blackwell McKinney of Hampton; son, Harold Chapman McKinney of Williamsburg; sister, Margaret May Garner and sister-in-law, Anne McKinney McCarthy; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. John's Episcopal Church by The Rev. Samantha Vincent-Alexander with interment to follow in St. John Cemetery.
